My Happy Place…(post for 1.17.2012)

Everyone has at least one. That special place that no matter how craptastic you feel it soothes you. I have a few, but two are more special than the others. One is a ridge overlooking the valley. It’s so quiet, so peaceful, so Zen. The other is a jagged set of falls carved out by the glaciers receding eons ago. The turbulent water never fails to captivate me. I realized today just how long it has been since I was at either one. Far too long. No wonder I am in such turmoil as of late, I haven’t even thought of going to the places that center me, bring me back on an even keel, soothe my weary spirit. So I decided that since the kids are out of school tomorrow that it was fates way of telling me to go, so I shall. We’ll leave around quarter to 5, catch the bus at ten after, hit the park entrance at 5:45. That will give us roughly an hour and a half until sunrise to hike the four miles to the ridge. I am praying my legs can hold out at least long enough to get there. If all goes as planned we will get there just in time to catch the sunrise, and hopefully for my camera itchy fingers get some amazing shots of the dawn over the valley.

I need this, I know I do, and I am hoping that writing about it and putting it out there will force me to follow through. Lord knows I don’t want to disappoint my adoring public (yes Timmy, that was facetious sarcasm). Here goes nothing….

Wish Me Luck My Lovelies :)

  1. I hope you were able to pull it off! Sounds like fun, and something I’ve not done in quite a while. My favorite spot to catch the sunrise/sunset is the beach nearby. Hope to see some pix of your hike.
