Bucket List

Someday

One of these days

As soon as I can….

We all have a list of “gonna dos” whether we admit it or not. Unfortunately all too often reality intrudes and slowly starts to turn the “gonna do” into a “wanna do” and eventually into “I wish I did”. It doesn’t always go down that path, just more often than not. Thats why I have my bucket list. These are things I will do come hell or high water before I kick the bucket. One of the best ways I have found to keep myself focused on my goals is to publicly own them, so that is what this blog is for, my bucket list.

Base Jump Into Sótano de las Golondrinas (The Cave Of Swallows)

Sótano de las Golondrinasis is a pit cave situated in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. From the mouth of the cave down to the base of the shaft it is a vertical drop ranging from 1,094 feet to 1,220 feet. The shape of the interior resembles and upended cone as the base is roughly four times the area of the mouth. It is a popular spot for both base jumpers and vertical cavers alike.

Travel To Venezuela And Explore Salto Ángel (Angel Falls)

Angel Falls is the worlds highest waterfall,  located in the Canaima National Park,  La Gran Sabana, Bolivar State, Venezuela. At 3,212 feet tall, the height is so great that the water is turned to mist by the strong winds before it can even hit the ground. The falls is actually comprised of an upper falls (2,647 feet), roughly a quarter mile of sloping shallow cascades and rapids, followed by a final 100 foot plunge. It has been said the mist from the falls can be felt from a mile away.

Climb Zoroaster Temple

Zoroaster Temple is one of the most prominent geological features in the Grand Canyon. The butte rises 7,123 feet above the floor of the canyon and is located just north of the Clear Creek Trail. It can be seen from many vantage points throughout the canyon. Although it is one of the premier climbing locations in the Grand Canyon, it’s access is limited and difficult due to the lack of readily available water nearby.

Hike The Entire Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail is a 2,178 footpath running from the northern terminus in Katahdin, Maine, through fourteen states to the southern terminus at Springer Mountain in Georgia. From it’s lowest point, 124 feet – near the Trailside Museum and Zoo at Bear Mountain, New York, the trail climbs more than 6,000 feet to Clingmans Dome in Tennessee, 6,625 feet. More than 10,000 people have reported hiking the approximately 5 million footsteps required to walk the entire length of the Trail.

Be A Beach Bum On Punaluu Beach

Punaluu Beach on the Big Island in Hawaii is one of the most famous black sand beaches in the world. The color of the sand is due to the volcanic activity on the island. While the conditions are not ideal for swimming, the beach itself  is ideal for exploring, catching a glimpse of the Honu (Hawaiian Green Sea turtle), or just kicking back and living the life of a beach bum.

Explore The Wave Rock Formation In Arizona/Utah

On the slopes of the Coyote Butte near the border of Utah and Arizona, one will find the sandstone rock formation known as The Wave. It is one of the most photographed landscapes in America. Erosion by wind and rain is what gives this formation it’s unique beauty, while the soft sandstone is what gives it it’s fragility. Due to the fragile nature of the formations, access is limited to 20 hikers per day in order to preserve the area.

Throw A Fish At Pikes Place Market

Pikes place Market in Seattle, Washington is know for it’s fish throwing merchants nationwide. The market celebrated a century of existence in 2007. Along with the fresh fish you can find just about anything your heart desires, other than a chain store. Pikes Place has refused to bow to the mass commercialism that has destroyed the uniqueness of far too many other historic places in America. No matter what it takes, I WILL throw a fish.

Party My Ass Off At Mardi Gras In New Orleans

Mardi Gras is a celebration with roots that can be traced all the way back to Medieval Europe. However no one can quite explain how it transformed into the hedonistic festival of debauchery it is today, and no one cares either. It is the ultimate party, something that must be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Trust me, I plan on experiencing it to the fullest extent possible.

Celebrate New Years Eve In Times Square

Times Square, NYC on New Years Eve is the ultimate way to ring in the new year with a few hundred thousand of your closest friends. The ball drop has been a tradition since 1906. The ball may have changed, but the party hasn’t, it is the ultimate New years Eve celebration, and cannot be topped. Well actually, one thing could top it, kissing the one you love as the ball drops and starting the new year off right. I plan to do just that one day.

I hope you have all enjoyed my bucket list. These are the things I will do before I am gone, I will live my life to the fullest until I have no life left to live. All I ask, is that you make a bucket list, and stick to it.

Live your dreams, make them happen

Do not let life pass you by

Have No Regrets

No More Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda

Grab life by the horns and hang on for the ride of your life.
